These are some of the questions I am asked most frequently. I hope this may help answer any question you might have:
Q: How would you describe your style of video?
A: There are many different styles of shooting a wedding video. I shoot in a documentary style, meaning that I capture your day as it happens. I don’t pose or stage any shots, letting your day unfold as it happens. This allows me to capture the true emotions and feelings of your wedding day.
Q: Do you have a contract?
A: Yes, I go over the entire contract with you when we meet so that there are no questions about any part of the contract and everyone is in agreement.
Q: How long does it normally take to receive the DVD after the wedding?
A: Typically, 8 to 12 weeks from your wedding day. This may sound like a long time, however for every hour of video that is captured of your wedding day, I will spend 6 to 8 hours editing your video. Some videographers may have faster turn around, but all of our videos are customized to reflect the style and taste of your wedding. No two wedding videos that I have done come close to looking the same.
Q: Is the final copy uncut or edited?
A: When you get your finished video it is completely edited.
Q: How long will my DVD be?
A: The length of your DVD depends on a number of things. The length of your ceremony is the biggest factor in the length of your finished video. Also, what you add on to your video also plays a part in the length. Your finished video will have completely interactive menus with chapters so you can go to your favorite section any time you wish. The average wedding video is 40-50 minutes.
Q: Do you use any special effects or graphics?
A: The only special effects that I use is slow motion and black & white filters. Other “special effects” can give your video a dated look and feel. Additionally, it is thought that special effects takes away from your special day. As for graphics, I like to keep them to a minimum if possible. I can customize graphics to fit any request, just tell me what you want and I can make it happen.
Q: You don’t have any packages, why?
A: This is one area I feel sets me apart. My thinking is that pre-set packages could force you into something you may not want. Most videographers will give you 3 or 4 packages to pick from, this is like going to a high end restaurant and only having 3 or 4 plates to choose from, which does not leave you much of a choice. Pre-set packages locks you into elements of that package that you may not want, but you choose it anyway because it fits your budget. I have a menu of elements that allows you create your own package that not only fits your budget but also fits you.
Q: What types of weddings have you videotaped?
A: Christian, Hindu, & Jewish ceremonies. We also have shot wedding both indoors and outdoors.
Q: Are you inconspicuous during the ceremony?
A: I like to say that we are unobtrusive. I love hearing brides and others tell me “I didn’t even know you were there!” I work within the rules of each facility that we shoot at, but I also do everything I can to get those important shots.
Q: How many videographers will be there?
A: I like to shoot with two videographers as that give you the best possible video.
Q: If you’re ill on our wedding day, who will replace you?
A: That problem has not happened to this point, but I have set up agreements with some other videographers who will step in for me if something were to happen. However, I am the only one who will edit your wedding video.
Q: What do you think about working with our still photographer?
A: We look forward to working with your photographer. I have a great working relationship with most of the local photographers and many are good personal friends as well. I talk with your photographer before your wedding so that we both know where the other is going to be so there is no confusion.
Q: Will you use a wireless microphone?
A: Yes, wireless microphones provide clear audio. We mic both the groom and the Officiate with a wireless lavaliere “clip-on” mic. The mic on the groom’s lapel picks up the bride’s voice. The microphones I use are omni directional. That means they pick up audio in a wide circle around the groom and the minster so that we get all of your vows.
Q: Can you provide extra wedding DVD copies of the finished wedding?
A: Yes, additional copies are available for $25 each
Q: Can I make copies of my wedding video?
A: Additional copies are available for you to purchase at a reasonable price.
Q: Do you offer High Definition as well as Standard Definition?
A: We do have the ability to capture your day in High Definition and can put it on a Blu-Ray disk for you.
Q: Can you make the wedding DVD play to fit my widescreen TV (16 x 9)?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you charge for mileage?
A: Most of the weddings I do are in the Knoxville area, but I will go anywhere in the world to capture your day. There is a standard mileage charge for weddings outside Knox County.
Q: How far will you travel to videotape my wedding?
A: Midnight Magic Studios will go anywhere your wedding may take you. Most of our weddings are in the East Tennessee area, but we know no limits in capturing your day.
Q: How is your time billed?
A: I think this is one of the many areas that sets Midnight Magic Studios apart from other videographers. There are NO time limits to your day. That being said, we can start when you want to start and we are with you until the moment you and your groom leave your reception. I feel that putting a time limit puts a cramp in your wedding. You want to enjoy your day and your guest, if you have time limits with your videographer then you have to stage shots and staged shots have no emotion to them.
Q: Do I have a choice of music for our video?
A: You have total control over your music selections. Tell me the songs that mean the most to the both of you and that is what we will use. Many couples will just leave the music up to me. I have a huge library of music to choose from and I have recently added the option of creating a custom song just for your wedding. Contact us for more details.
Q: Do you charge extra for music and/or editing?
A: All cost related to your wedding video is included in the total price quoted. There are no hidden fees for music or editing.
Q: Do you have a demo video you can send us?
A: We would be glad to send you a demo DVD, but you can also find recent examples of our work here on the web site, Just go to the demo section of this site.
Q: Do you interview guests at the reception?
A: We can if you choose that option. Our interviews are just a bit different, as we don’t ask the traditional questions. We like to ask more “off-the-wall” questions that revolve around you as a couple and your wedding. This givea you a more real interview and also it is more fun to watch.
Q: Do you bring backup wedding video equipment with you?
A: We bring back up equipment for everything. We have back up cameras, more than enough batteries, tapes, etc. We even have backup tripods. We only have one chance to get your wedding; equipment failure is not an option or an excuse.
Q: Can you make a video photo montage? If so, what is your price?
A: Photo montages are $225 and we don’t limit your photos. We do however charge a small fee for scanning photos.
